Shaelyn T. Pham, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist (CA license PSY23509) and co-founder of the Newport Psychology Center.  Her areas of focus include children, adolescents, and adults with mood disorders (i.e., depression, bipolar), anxiety, anger, trauma, substance-related disorders, personality disorders, and she also provides psychological evaluations.  She is also an online adjunct professor at Liberty University where she teaches graduate courses in the Counseling and Family Studies Department.

 

Dr. Pham has been practicing in the field of psychology for almost a decade.  She has extensive experience providing psychological evaluations and treating patients of different ages, genders, and ethnicities in individual, couple, family, and group therapy.  She has worked in many different settings including community agencies, schools, group homes, inpatient sobriety rehabilitation centers, psychiatric residential care, and outpatient clinics. She is an independent contractor consultant for various agencies.  Dr. Pham has been a consultant for the Military and Family Life (MFLC) program which was created as a result of increased demand for support of Service members in active duty, reserve, and the National Guard, funded by the Office of the Secretary of Defense. She is also a consultant for a very important subset of the MFLC network – the Child and Youth Services (CYS) programs serving in various locations internationally.

 

Dr. Pham has also been a consultant for multiple Adult Day Health Care Centers in the greater areas of Los Angeles.  She provides psychological evaluations for participants as well as provides training and supervision for other treating clinicians and the multidisciplinary teams.

 

Dr. Pham has written literature on parenting styles and its effects on the development of adolescent psychological well-being. She has also written on the methods to achieve the most effective therapeutic outcomes when working with a cross-cultural population. Dr. Pham has dedicated her time to providing presentations and seminars to different audiences of all ages, including professionals and the general public. Some of her topics include:

She completed her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at Seattle Pacific University, Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology, Marital and Family specialization and Doctorate Degree of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She is also a member of the American Psychological Association.

Michael J. Moss, Psy.D. is a licensed psychologist specializing in the Psychological and Educational Evaluation and Assessment of Children, Adolescents, and Adults.

Psychological and Educational Evaluations and Assessments can be extremely useful in determining the nature and extent of distressing symptoms such as difficulty with attention and concentration, academic performance, anxious or depressed mood, and behavioral issues.  Dr. Moss’s evaluations and assessments can assist in the accurate determination of a diagnosis and in examining an individual’s strengths and weaknesses.

I have had extensive training and experience in performing individualized psychological and educational evaluations and assessments.  The evaluations and assessments I perform can be extremely useful in determining the nature and extent of distressing symptoms such as difficulty with attention and concentration, academic performance, anxious or depressed mood, and behavioral issues.  The evaluations and assessments can also assist in the accurate determination of a diagnosis and in examining an individual’s strengths and weaknesses.

I prepare a written comprehensive report which documents any diagnosis found based on the results of the evaluation or assessment and provides applicable helpful recommendations and referrals.  The results of the evaluation or assessment are presented in a feedback session with the patient and/or family.

I also supervise and teach Fellows in the Reiss-Davis Child Study PEDS Fellowship program.  The PEDS Program provides training in the areas of psychological and educational evaluations and assessments.
