Brief Bio

Chris Karmiol is an associate marriage and family therapist born and raised in New York City and now based in Los Angeles, California. He received his Master of Arts in clinical psychology with an emphasis in marriage and family therapy from Pepperdine University. He trained at Maple Counseling, providing psychodynamic therapy to individual clients that included actors, filmmakers, and other arts professionals. He has also worked around diverse populations at Cliffside Malibu, a residential treatment center for substance abuse and addiction.

Chris has both the training and lived experience to connect with the unique needs of both these diverse populations. In addition to working as a therapist, he is a writer and holds a Bachelor of Arts in writing/literature and a Master of Science in journalism from Columbia University. Chris continues to train at Maple Counseling, working with adolescents and teens at Beverly Hills High School, while continuing to see adult individual clients and couples.

Chris values compassion and connection. His holistic, empathic approach offers healing and support to bring clients closer to authenticity, overcome personal and creative obstacles, and find integration. Through a warm, caring therapeutic collaboration, Chris works toward creating the space to nourish clients’ wellness and inner growth.
